HEY.
I’m so glad you’re here. The home page of a girl whose heart lies in photographing the people and landscapes of Wollongong, the Illawarra, South coast of NSW and beyond.
I’m Mikaela, a tall, hopeless romantic born in the 90’s with a passion for people and photography. Nowadays I’m an Illawarra local, however my roots are grounded out in the Central West of NSW.
The titles I identify with most are ‘sister’, ‘friend’, ‘partner, ‘dog mum’ and of course ‘photographer’. I find happiness in the simple things; being outdoors, mood lighting, cups of tea and waking up slowly on the weekends. My dog, Baxter, is the light of my life and makes me feel like the most special human on the planet.
I’m drawn to people who show kindness, embrace their wild side, and adore dogs. I see strength in vulnerability and admire all who are brave enough to be -and accept- their authentic selves.
MY WHY.
The little things strike a chord for me. I don’t see love as some big, overarching invisible thing, I see it as countless small moments in time that are made up of little bits of magic and bliss; of ups and downs, of raw emotion, kind gestures and the simplicity of the day-to day. Love isn’t a stagnant state of being- it changes and moves with life, and is felt every day.
I want to capture your small moments between your big moments. The eye contact that lets you know you’re heard; the deep warm breath when they come home and come close, and the sparks you feel when your name rolls off their tongue.
The wonder, the awe, the safety the one you love can make you feel is powerful. I’m interested in capturing the real you- The two of you as you are, and the things that make you who you are. The chapter you’re in right now will only happen once, and it deserves to be documented for what it is. Your story is yours alone, and unlike any other so let’s tell it authentically and in its entirety.
